✈️ Getting there

LGKLangkawi International Airport
📍 10 km20 min🚕 Taxi🚌 Grab

There is no public bus from Langkawi Airport — buy a fixed-rate taxi coupon at the taxi counter near the arrivals exit for 25 MYR (around €5) to Kuah Town, or use Grab for a similar price to any part of the island.

A small, relaxed island airport served primarily by Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Batik Air from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore; compact and stress-free with a single terminal, and a short taxi ride from every part of the island.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Langkawi — beyond the tourist trail.

🦅Book a mangrove tour through Kilim Karst Geoforest Park from Kilim Jetty — the eagle feeding session where brahminy kites dive for fish scraps inches from the boat is extraordinary. Go in the early morning (7–8am departure) when the water is glassy and wildlife is most active. Full-day tours cost around 150 MYR per person.
🏖️Tanjung Rhu beach in the island's northeast is Langkawi's finest — a sweeping arc of powder sand backed by limestone karst with no vendors or jet skis. Access via the road past Mukim Ayer Hangat; arrive before 9am and you may have it entirely to yourself.
🚡The Langkawi Skycab cable car at Oriental Village is one of the steepest in the world — book the first gondola at 9:30am when visibility is best and clouds haven't formed yet. The 125-metre curved SkyBridge at the summit is genuinely vertiginous and worth the extra entrance fee.
🥃Langkawi is a duty-free island — alcohol costs a fraction of mainland Malaysia prices. Stock up at one of the many duty-free shops in Kuah Town (Zon Duty Free has the best selection) and bring a bottle of Johnnie Walker back through EU customs within your allowance.
🌊Rent a kayak from Pantai Tengah beach and paddle north around the headland to a sea cave accessible only by water — ask the kayak rental operator (most charge 30–40 MYR per hour) specifically about the cave route. The limestone formations inside are illuminated by filtered light around midday.
