✈️ Getting there

KULKuala Lumpur International Airport
📍 55 km28 min🚌 KLIA Ekspres Train🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi🚌 Rideshare (Grab)

The KLIA Ekspres non-stop train runs directly to KL Sentral station in 28 minutes for RM 55 one-way — it's the fastest option and dramatically cheaper than a taxi for the 55 km journey.

KLIA is one of Asia's major hub airports, designed by Kisho Kurokawa with a vast jungle-themed satellite terminal — Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Batik Air are the main carriers, alongside Emirates, Qatar Airways, and most European flag carriers.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Kuala Lumpur — beyond the tourist trail.

🌃View the Petronas Towers from KLCC Park at night rather than from the observation deck — the reflection pool at ground level and the fountain show at 8pm and 9pm give you the full cinematic effect for free.
🍜Go to Jalan Alor for dinner (best after 7pm when all stalls are running) — order the char kway teow from the wok stalls at the northern end of the street. Ignore the tourist menus and point at what regulars are eating.
🕌Visit Masjid Jamek at dawn, just after the Fajr call to prayer — this 1909 Mughal mosque sits at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers and is genuinely beautiful in the early light, with almost no tourists.
🚇Get a Touch 'n Go card from any 7-Eleven on arrival and use it on the LRT and MRT — it costs a fraction of taxis, covers most of the city, and air-conditioned carriages are a genuine relief in the heat.
Have breakfast at a kopitiam (old-style coffee shop) — find any one in Brickfields or Chow Kit that's been there more than 30 years. Order kopi-o (black coffee), toast with kaya (coconut jam), and half-boiled eggs. It costs under 10 RM and is one of the city's great rituals.
