The Boeing 737 MAX is the fourth generation of the 737 family, re-engined with CFM LEAP-1B turbofans that deliver 14% better fuel efficiency than the 737 NG. After high-profile groundings in 2019–2021 following two fatal crashes, the MAX returned to service with software fixes (MCAS), enhanced pilot training requirements, and new safety certifications. Comfort review
For short-to-medium haul routes, the 737 MAX provides a noticeably improved cabin experience over the older 737 NG. The Boeing Sky Interior brings larger overhead bins (so more carry-on actually fits), LED mood lighting, and curved cabin sidewalls that create a slightly more spacious feel. The LEAP-1B engines are meaningfully quieter on take-off than older CFM56 engines. Economy is the standard 3-3 narrowbody layout — comfortable enough for 3–4 hour flights, but not a wide-body.
