✈️ Airbus A350

Airbus's quiet, efficient answer to ultra-long-haul flying

The Airbus A350 XWB (Extra Wide Body) entered service in 2015 and rapidly became a favourite among premium carriers. Constructed from 53% composite materials, it is one of the most fuel-efficient widebodies in service. Passengers benefit from lower cabin altitude, high humidity, impressively quiet engines (Rolls-Royce Trent XWB), wide overhead bins, and a naturally wider fuselage cross-section that gives Economy seats a more comfortable feel. Singapore Airlines operates the world's longest flight (SIN–JFK, 18+ hours) on the A350.

Comfort review

The A350 is widely regarded as the most comfortable widebody in economy class thanks to its wider-than-average fuselage. The XWB designation is earned: a 9-abreast 3-3-3 Economy layout on the A350-900 gives slightly more elbow room than the 777 or 787. Add near-whisper-quiet Trent XWB engines, lower cabin altitude (1,800 m), high LED mood lighting flexibility, and large overhead bins β€” and the A350 consistently earns passenger praise.

πŸ”‡

Exceptionally quiet

The Trent XWB engine is among the quietest in commercial aviation. Conversation is easy at cruise.

πŸ›‹οΈ

Wider cabin

The A350's fuselage is 5.61 m wide β€” the widest in its class β€” giving more space per seat row in Economy.

πŸ”οΈ

Low cabin altitude

Pressurised to ~1,800 m equivalent β€” comparable to 787 and better than 777 or A330.

πŸ’‘

Full-spectrum LED

Curved LED ceiling with ambient colour modes creates a calming sky-like environment, especially on overnight flights.

🧳

Large overhead bins

Pivoting overhead bins can fit trolley cases lengthwise, so even Zone 5 passengers usually find space.

Seat note: Economy is typically 3-3-3 in the wider A350 fuselage, making each seat slightly wider than on a Boeing 777 in the same layout. Qatar Airways controversially uses a denser 3-4-3 layout in Economy on the A350-1000 β€” check before booking. Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Finnair maintain comfortable 3-3-3 layouts. Business class on Singapore Airlines' A350 is world-class (Business Suite with full closing door).
