✈️ Getting there

OSLOslo Gardermoen Airport
📍 47 km22 min🚌 Airport Express Train (Flytoget)🚌 Regional Train (NSB)🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi

The Flytoget Airport Express Train takes just 19–22 minutes to Oslo Central Station and runs every 10 minutes — a single ticket costs around 230 NOK (€20), or save money with the cheaper NSB regional train (210 NOK, takes 24 minutes) which goes to the same station.

Oslo Gardermoen is a spacious, efficiently designed hub with a famous wave-shaped wooden roof — it handles SAS, Norwegian, Widerøe, and most major European carriers, with a calm, unhurried atmosphere that sets the tone for Norway itself.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Oslo — beyond the tourist trail.

🛶Rent a kayak from Oslofjord Kayak (Bygdøynes) for 350–450 NOK/hour and paddle out to the small islands in the inner Oslofjord. Lindøya and Bleikøya have beaches you can land on — Norwegians do this all summer and it's one of the most exhilarating things to do in any European capital.
🖼️Visit the Munch Museum (Munchmuseet) in the afternoon when the light through the angled glass facade is at its best. The entire collection — including multiple versions of The Scream — is here, and the building's views over the Oslofjord from the top floor are extraordinary. Book online to skip the queue.
🌲Take Metro Line 1 (T-bane) to Frognerseteren — the terminus — and walk downhill through Nordmarka forest back toward the city. The 8km trail through spruce forest to Sognsvann lake is one of Oslo's great open secrets. The Frognerseteren restaurant at the top does the city's best brown cheese waffles.
🍦Get a softis (soft-serve) from a kiosk at Aker Brygge or Tjuvholmen and walk the Tjuvholmen waterfront to the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art — entry to the sculpture park outside is free and the Renzo Piano building reflected in the lagoon is one of Oslo's great architectural sights.
🍺Drink at Schouskjelleren Mikrobryggeri (Tøyengata 2) — a genuine local microbrewery in a 19th-century cellar in Grünerløkka with 16 taps of house-brewed beer. Go after 6pm when the neighbourhood locals fill it up. Prices are still high by European standards but it's about as non-tourist as Oslo gets.
