✈️ Getting there

BOGEl Dorado International Airport
📍 15 km45 min🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi🚌 Uber

Uber is by far the most reliable option from El Dorado — it costs around COP 25,000–40,000 (€6–10) to most central neighbourhoods and takes 30–60 minutes depending on Bogotá's notorious traffic; avoid arriving at evening rush hour if possible.

El Dorado is one of South America's busiest airports with a large modern terminal handling Avianca, LATAM, Copa, Iberia, Air France, and KLM from Europe — it's efficient and well-organised by regional standards, with a decent food hall airside.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Bogotá — beyond the tourist trail.

🚲Cycle the Ciclovía on Sunday morning — every Sunday from 07:00–14:00, 127km of major roads close to cars and fill with cyclists, skaters, and joggers. Rent a bike near Parque de la 93 for COP 10,000 and cycle the full route from Chapinero to Usaquén. It's the city at its most joyful.
Visit Amor Perfecto in the Chapinero neighbourhood for a cupping session — Colombia produces some of the world's finest single-origin coffee and this roastery does Saturday morning cuppings for COP 25,000 where you taste six origins side by side. Book via their website.
🎨Walk the street art circuit in La Candelaria starting at Calle 10 with Chorro de Quevedo — Bogotá decriminalised graffiti in 2011 and the result is one of the world's great outdoor galleries. The Bogotá Graffiti Tour (free, tips-based, meets at Parque de los Periodistas daily at 10:00) is the authoritative guide.
🏔️Take the Teleférico to Monserrate on a clear weekday morning — the 3,152m peak above the city has a shrine and two restaurants, but the real draw is the 360° view of the Bogotá savannah stretching to the Andes. Cloud rolls in by noon, so the cable car's 07:30 first departure is optimal.
🍺Spend an evening in the Usaquén neighbourhood market (open Thursday–Sunday evenings) — this former colonial village annexed by the city now has a square full of craft stalls, food trucks, and a cluster of excellent bars serving local craft beer like those from Apostol or 3 Cordilleras. Much safer and more local-feeling than the tourist spots.
