The Airport Express FEX train runs every 30 minutes to Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Ostbahnhof in about 30 minutes for €4 on a standard AB/C zone ticket — faster and cheaper than a taxi (€35–45).

Berlin's relatively new single-terminal airport (opened 2020) is spacious and modern, handling Ryanair, easyJet, Lufthansa, and most major European airlines — long walks between gates but efficient baggage reclaim.

🕳️Walk the full length of the East Side Gallery early on a weekday morning — 1.3km of original Wall sections painted by international artists in 1990. At 7am you'll have whole sections to yourself; by 10am it's packed with tour groups.

🍛Eat a currywurst at Curry 36 in Mehringdamm (not the tourist versions near the Brandenburg Gate) — order the one with Darm (casing) and extra sauce, eat standing at the counter. This is the real version.

🏛️Book the Pergamon Museum altar restoration tour — the main Pergamon altar is behind scaffolding until 2037, but the guided access to the restoration work is genuinely fascinating and tickets are available on the museum island website.

🎭Get a last-minute standing ticket for the Berliner Ensemble or Schaubühne — Berlin's state theatres sell standing room (Stehplatz) for €10–15 on the night, even for sold-out productions. Check online at 6pm on the day.
