🎯 Key Takeaways
New Mediterranean Routes — May–June 2026
Wizz Air — New Palermo and Catania Routes from Eindhoven
Wizz Air adds Palermo (4× weekly) and expands Catania to daily from Eindhoven, both starting 1 June. Sicily is underserved from the Netherlands — this fills a real gap. Launch fares are around €89–119 return including one small bag.
Ryanair — Rome Ciampino Daily from Rotterdam
From 26 May, Ryanair introduces its first daily frequency from Rotterdam The Hague to Rome Ciampino. Previously maximum 4× weekly. Current fares sit around €79–149 return depending on dates.
Volotea — Valencia from Nantes and Bordeaux
French ultra-low-cost carrier Volotea starts Valencia services from both Nantes and Bordeaux from 15 June, twice weekly each. Prices from €69 one-way. Relevant if you are travelling from southwest France.
easyJet — Amsterdam → Chania (Crete) from July
easyJet opens Chania bookings from 1 July. This is a new Amsterdam–Chania direct connection — previously you had to route via Athens or book via TUI. Fares open at €149 return.
Price watch: Mediterranean fares are rising fast as summer approaches. Most of these new routes launched sales in the last 30 days. If any appeal, now is the right time — fares will increase materially through May and June.
