Loyalty Programme Guide

EuroBonus

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines)

EuroBonus is the loyalty programme of SAS (Scandinavian Airlines), popular across Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Members earn points on SAS and all 35+ Star Alliance partner airlines, with strong coverage across Northern Europe, Greenland and North America.

How EuroBonus Works

  • 1Earn EuroBonus points on SAS and Star Alliance partners including Lufthansa, United, Singapore Airlines and ANA.
  • 2Points earned = base points Γ— cabin class multiplier Γ— fare type multiplier. SAS Go Light earns the fewest points.
  • 3Tiers: Member β†’ Silver (25,000 qualifying pts/year) β†’ Gold (50,000) β†’ Diamond (150,000).
  • 4Points expire 12 months after the end of the calendar year in which they were earned β€” keep earning to maintain your balance.
  • 5SAS Plus and SAS Business earn significantly higher multipliers than SAS Go β€” worth upgrading on long routes.

🎯 Sweet Spot Redemptions

SAS Business to North America

Copenhagen or Stockholm to New York in SAS Business Class can redeem for 60,000–70,000 points return. SAS operates lie-flat seats on transatlantic routes with Nordic-inspired catering.

Intra-Scandinavia short-haul burns

Domestic Scandinavian flights (CPH–OSL, ARN–HEL, OSL–TRD) redeem from 5,000 points return β€” a practical way to burn small balances on routes you fly anyway.

ANA or Singapore Airlines upgrades

Use EuroBonus points to upgrade ANA or Singapore Airlines flights at comparatively lower redemption rates β€” particularly valuable for the Tokyo or Singapore routes from European hubs.

Point purchase sales

SAS periodically offers EuroBonus points at 50% discount. If you're close to an award threshold for a Scandinavian domestic route, topping up during a sale is cost-effective.

πŸ’‘ Earning Tips

  • βœ“Hold the SAS Eurocard (Mastercard) β€” earn 1 point per 10 SEK/DKK/NOK spent with 5Γ— on SAS purchases.
  • βœ“Book SAS flights directly on flysas.com β€” third-party bookings may not credit points reliably.
  • βœ“Stay at SAS partner hotels (Radisson Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy) to earn bonus points per night.
  • βœ“Car rentals through Avis or Sixt via the SAS partner portal earn EuroBonus points on top of flight credits.
  • βœ“EuroBonus points deliver most value in Business Class β€” Economy redemptions offer significantly lower cents-per-point value.
