✈️ Getting there

VNOVilnius Čiurlionis International Airport
📍 6 km7 min🚂 Train🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi🚌 Bolt

The dedicated airport train to Vilnius Central Station takes just 7 minutes for €0.80 — buy a ticket from the orange platform machine (card or cash) and it drops you right at the edge of the Old Town. One of the best airport links in the Baltics.

A compact, recently renovated single-terminal airport (new terminal opened February 2025) serving as a base for Ryanair, Wizz Air, and airBaltic alongside major carriers including Lufthansa, LOT, and Turkish Airlines — efficient, modern, and surprisingly quiet for its passenger volumes.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Vilnius — beyond the tourist trail.

🎨Visit Užupis on April 1st (Independence Day) if your dates align — the republic's constitution is displayed on mirrored plaques in 30 languages along the main wall, and the neighbourhood throws a street party. Any other day, cross the bridge and look for the bronze mermaid in the river.
🏰Take the funicular (€1) up to Gediminas Tower rather than the hiking path — it opens at 10am and the red-brick octagonal tower offers the best panorama of the entire Old Town and Neris river bend. Arrive at opening to avoid queues.
🚂Get to the airport by train for €0.80 — the dedicated 7-minute rail link from Vilnius Central Station is one of Europe's best airport connections. Trains run roughly 16 times a day from 5:30am to 10:30pm.
📚Find Juodas Šuo ('Black Dog') bookshop — a secret second-hand bookstore hidden in an early 20th-century apartment in the Old Town. The kind of place you discover by recommendation only, with books stacked in every room of the flat.
🥟Order cepelinai (zeppelin-shaped potato dumplings stuffed with minced meat and topped with sour cream and bacon) at any traditional Lithuanian restaurant — they are filling, delicious, and cost €5-8. They are the national dish for a reason.
