✈️ Getting there

TBSTbilisi International Airport
📍 17 km35 min🚇 Metro🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi🚌 Bolt/Yandex app

The cheapest option is the express bus 37 (about 0.50 GEL / €0.15) that runs to Isani metro station every 20–30 minutes, then take the metro one stop to the centre — total journey under an hour. Bolt taxis cost around 15–20 GEL (€5–6) and take 25–40 minutes depending on traffic.

A mid-sized modern terminal that feels disproportionately international for its size — Wizz Air, Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, and FlyDubai all use it heavily, making it one of the best-connected budget airline airports in the Caucasus.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Tbilisi — beyond the tourist trail.

🍷Attend a wine tasting at Twins Wine House in the Kakheti region (2 hours from Tbilisi by marshrutka) or, if staying in the city, visit Wine Factory N1 in the old Soviet bottling plant — the qvevri amber wines made with skin contact are unlike anything you'll find in Western Europe and extremely cheap by local standards.
🧖Soak in a private sulphur bath room at Chreli Abano in Abanotubani — book the private domed room (not the public bath) for €8–12 per hour. The water runs at 37°C from natural geothermal springs that have been used since the 5th century and gives the city its name (Tbilisi means 'warm place').
🏔️Take the cable car from Rike Park up to Narikala Fortress at dusk — the fortress itself is a free ruin to wander, but the view over the Mtkvari River bend and the old town rooftops at golden hour is the defining Tbilisi image. Return down the steep lanes through Abanotubani on foot.
🥩Eat khinkali (soup dumplings) at Zakhar Zakharich on Ateni Street — order the classic pork-and-herb filling, hold by the top knot, bite a small hole, drink the broth first, then eat. The top knot is traditionally left on the plate so the waiter can count how many you ate. Budget 25–30 dumplings per person.
🎨Explore Fabrika on a weekend evening — the repurposed Soviet sewing factory in Chugureti now hosts independent design studios, craft beer bars, vinyl record sellers, and outdoor food stalls in the old factory courtyard. It gets busy after 9pm and the energy is completely local.
