✈️ Getting there

CPTCape Town International Airport
📍 22 km30 min🚕 Taxi🚌 Rideshare (Bolt/Uber)🚌 MyCiTi Bus

The MyCiTi Bus Route 100A runs to the city centre for around R80 (€4) but is slow; Bolt or Uber is far more practical at R150–250 (€8–13) and takes 25–35 minutes depending on traffic.

Cape Town International is a modern, mid-sized airport well-served by European carriers including British Airways, KLM, and Lufthansa with direct long-haul routes, and locally by FlySafair and Kulula for domestic connections.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Cape Town — beyond the tourist trail.

🏔️Hike Lion's Head at sunrise on a full-moon morning — the circular trail takes about 2 hours, chains help with the scramble at the top, and you'll beat the cable car crowds entirely. Go on a weekday for fewer people.
🍷Drive the Franschhoek Wine Tram on a Tuesday or Wednesday (weekends get busy) — a hop-on, hop-off tram linking boutique estates. Moreson and Babylonstoren are highlights; book lunch at the latter's garden restaurant weeks in advance.
🐧Visit Boulders Beach penguin colony in Simon's Town in the morning before 9am when the penguins are most active and tour groups haven't arrived. Pay the SANParks entry fee (around R240) — the main boardwalk gets you eye-level with hundreds of African penguins.
🥘Eat a bunny chow or Cape Malay curry at a locals' spot in the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood — the colourful hillside quarter is best explored before 10am before it gets busy. Try Biesmiellah restaurant on Wale Street, open since 1973, for authentic Cape Malay cooking.
🌊Swim at Clifton 4th Beach (sheltered from wind, no cars allowed nearby — budget 20 minutes to walk in) rather than the more famous Camps Bay. It's the spot locals actually use. Water is cold from the Atlantic current, so September–November is actually warmer than midsummer.
