✈️ Getting there

BEGBelgrade Nikola Tesla Airport
📍 18 km30 min🚌 Bus🚕 Taxi🚌 Minibus

Bus A1 runs directly to Republic Square in the city centre for around 400 RSD (€3.40) — buy the ticket from the driver, runs every 20-30 minutes and takes about 35 minutes.

A mid-sized, manageable airport served heavily by Air Serbia, Wizz Air, and Ryanair, with a recently expanded terminal that handles the traffic without the chaos of larger hubs.

Don't Miss

Hidden gems and local experiences in Belgrade — beyond the tourist trail.

🏰Kalemegdan Fortress at dusk: skip the midday crowds and walk up from the Stari Grad side around 7pm — the views over the river confluence turn golden and locals come out to play chess on the park tables. Entry to the fortress grounds is free.
🎵Splav (floating river club) culture: book a table at Freestyler or Lasta on the Sava riverbank before midnight — these floating boat clubs are a Belgrade institution and nothing like a standard nightclub. Reserve online or via your hotel, entry is usually free before 1am.
🥩Skadarlija cobblestone street for a real ćevapi lunch: go to Tri Šešira ('Three Hats') at 1pm on a weekday to avoid tourist rush — order the mixed grill platter and the house rakija. The street fills with accordion players by evening but lunch is the locals' hour.
🖼️Museum of Yugoslavia and Tito's Mausoleum (House of Flowers): arrive when it opens at 10am — the exhibit on non-aligned movement history is genuinely fascinating, Tito's tomb is quietly moving, and the grounds are almost always calm. Take bus 40 or 41 from Republic Square.
🛒Zeleni Venac market on a Saturday morning: this is where Belgrade actually shops — grab burek from the bakery stalls, pick up local cheeses and ajvar, and watch the city wake up. Arrive before 9am for the full chaotic atmosphere before the produce runs out.
